I'm a 41-year old autistic aspiring RUclipsr who likes anime, manga, video games, old game shows and pop culture in general. The home for 15 Minute Game Show Reviews, The Top Ten, MartYtram Plays, Anime/Game Show mashups and other fun stuff.
15 Minute Game Show Reviews: Debt
Welcome back to the Nerd Nest and another episode of 15 Minute Game Show Reviews. In this episode, we stay in the mid 1990s with another criminally short-lived cable game from that decade where Wink Martindale hosts three contestants competing to win enough money to pay off their bills(and maybe win it again) as they try to get out of...Debt.

MartYtram Plays: Jeopardy!(N64)

The Answer Is: The 1998 #Nintendo64 version of the game show I will be featuring in this edition of MartYtram Plays. What is "Jeopardy!"? Since I recently played the N64 edition of "Wheel of Fortune", I thought I'd do #Jeopardy! as well. Let's see how well I do and I make a complete idiot of myself with what I don't know. #RestInPower, #AlexTrebek

Hey there, I made another one of my Let's Play-style videos and it sort of relates to my last Game Show Review since it was about the 1990s game show "Click" hosted by Ryan Seacrest, who will be taking over as host of "Wheel of Fortune" in September. The game in question is the 1997 Nintendo 64 version of "Wheel". Let's get ready to buy some vowels and win some unfortunately not real money. Als...

Hey there, fellow Tubers. It's time for a new episode of 15 Minute Game Show Reviews and the first one from my new domain that I loving call the "Nerd Nest". In this episode, I review the late 1990s Internet themed teen quizzer "Click" hosted by a young Ryan Seacrest. Confidentiality, it was created by the late, great Merv Griffin, who created "Wheel of Fortune", which Ryan will be hosting star...

Hey there, fellow Tubers. I recently moved to a brand new home with my family, with a big basement for me to nerd out in. To celebrate, I bought a video capture card and I'm going to be making more Let's Play videos. My first will be of the 1999 N64 game NFL Blitz 2000. Basically it was like NBA Jam, but with football, supposedly the opposite of Madden. I'm not too good a sports games, but sure...
Trivial Pursuit- Persona Style

Haven't done one of these in awhile. It's another of my crappily made videos of anime characters playing a game show. Well, technically game characters, but they did get an anime spinoff. This time, it's the protagonists of Persona 3, 4 and 5 playing Trivial Pursuit, which is set to premiere on The CW with LeVar Burton this year. Now, this is basically my own idea of how I'd like the game to be...

Hey, everyone. It's been a month, but I'm back with a new video and it's another review of a classic game show. This time, it's the 1993 Family Channel version of Trivial Pursuit hosted by the legendary Wink Martindale, which includes both the Interactive Game and the more traditional classic game, as well as a look at the failed 1993 pilot for syndication. I chose this one because of the upcom...

Hey, everyone. I'm back with a new video and it's another review of a classic game show. This time, it's The Cross-Wits, a series where contestants teamed up with celebrities to solve crossword puzzles and saw two versions in the 1970s with veteran announcer Jack Clark as host and a revival in the mid 1980s with British(!) born host David Sparks.

Well, it took awhile, but I finally completed my long delayed second Let's Play-type video called MartYtram Plays. This time, I'll be playing is the 1994 Sega Genesis version of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Since I didn't have a Genesis when I was a kid, I missed out on quite a few great games and as I find out, it plays much differently from the Super NES version, which I've already played. A...

Happy 2024, everyone! I know we're already a month into the New Year, but I've finished my newest video and it's a new game show review. This time, it's the 1988 version of "Wipeout" starring the late, great Peter Tomarken. Even though the show bombed in the US, it did do well overseas. Anyway, enjoy and look forward to more fun this year.

Ho ho ho. Here's my Christmas Present to all my followers. This one is a review of a game show from 2001 that was only six episodes, but is notable for being hosted by the late, great Paul Reubens and is a tribute to him a being a big part of my childhood: Anyway, if you think this adaptation of a successful video game series was successful, then You Don't Know Jack!

Hey, everyone. I'm finally back with a new video. It takes longer to make these than I thought they would. But anyway, this is a new episode of The Top Ten and this one is about my top pop culture moments from 1993, which I consider the true year the 1990s began.

Here's an updated version of the first video in my Let's Play-type series: MartYtram Plays. This is the kid-friendly version of a video I uploaded earlier, so any bad words I used are edited out and replaced with a funny graphic and sound effect. I mostly did this so my 8-year old great nephew can watch me. As last time. I'll be playing is the 1994 Super Nintendo version of Mighty Morphin Power...

Hello. That was another great review video. I was a contestant on “Debt” in 1996 (season 1). In fact, you have several clips from my episode in your video. I’m Jeff and I’m the one who was wearing the blue sweater and the khaki pants. I also won my game and doubled my winnings in the bonus round too. It was an awesome experience and Wink was a truly nice man and a very professional host. Thank you so much for showing some love to a game show that, for obvious reasons, has a special place in my heart. For what it’s worth, I agree that the show deserved a longer run than it got.
Hi. I hope you don't mind that I used clips from your video for mine. I can remove them if you want. Also, I'm glad you had a wonderful time. What did you do with your winnings, besides paying off your bills of course?
Hi again. I do not mind one bit that you used my video for clips in your review video. No need to remove them. I was pleasantly surprised. Hard for me to believe that it’s been over 28 years since I taped that. Fun fact: I taped in July of 1996 but they did not air my episode until December of 1996. I had to tape the show every night just to make sure I didn’t miss it. I used the money to actually pay off my debts as of then. I had a little left over to buy a newer car too. My memories of that day get fuzzier as the years go on, but it was a lot of fun…and I would say that even if I did not win almost $13,000 that day.
Wow! Great work on this review on Debt MartYtraM! And I agree with you on all of this!
I loved Debt! Wink was fantastic as usual and the show was solid! As for how I'd revive it... The toss-up would be worth $50 and first selection. General Debt would be season 1 rules but the payouts would range from $200-$1000 with the Debtonator worth $2500. Gambling Debt payouts would now be $3000, $4000, $5000, $7500 and $15,000 off a player's debt. Bonus round rules remain unchanged. Debts can now range anywhere from $25,000-$75,000 for each player. 3rd place player gets $2,500, 2nd place $5,000 and winner gets $7,500 if they bomb out in the bonus round. As for host - I'm kinda leaning towards Jeff Sutphen. He was great on BrainSurge, really came into his own on 101 Ways US and I'd love to see him back on TV. Alternate option would either be Debt alum Frank Nicotero or Power Rangers Time Force Red Ranger Jason Faunt. As for announcer - I'd go Tara Strong. And for the Debt security guard - if Kurt wants to come back, he can. Otherwise I'd bring in another Power Rangers alum - either Shawn Cw Johnson from Lightspeed Rescue, Johnny Yong Bosch from Zeo or Jason Narvy, who played Skull from Mighty Morphin'-in Space. I'd also add returning champions. Champions can stay on until they lose, pay off their entire debt without losing it in Bet Your Debt or until they win 5 in a row. 5 wins in a row pays off their debt automatically (no Bet Your Debt would be played) and awards a brand new car.
Jeopardy! Rip off
So what? Imitation is sometimes a form of flattery.
I did not know Wipeout was syndicated for a while after. ABC's affiliate, WISN in Milwaukee placed it in the same slot as most of the other game shows ABC showed earlier in the 80's (i.e. Double Talk & Bargain Hunters, then after, Match Game). They even used Bob Ridgely, who was an ABC staff announcer during that time as one of their announcers. John Harlan would announce on this show too.
Nice video of the day.❤🎉. 23:27 .
It should've lasted longer. But, it had a terrible syndicator. CLICK should've been produced by Griffin in association with Columbia-TriStar at the time and syndicated by King World. Just like WOF and J!. Also, should've been on those very same stations. Finally, Harry Friedman would somehow be involved as a consultant or producer.
Ryan hosted Click and now he is the new host of Wheel of Fortune, both of which were created by Merv Griffin. Talk about coming full circle.
I remember this.
Click was a very good show - very fast paced ! however - another game show that followed this show was "PEER PRESSURE and that one was WKRP !! (WKRP is in reference to the other "C" word I don't used because of the attracting of the censored police)
Wow talk about coming full circle for Ryan
OHHHHH they had to give 3 correct answers consecutively to win... I honestly though they just lost count in the 2nd season... as I counted more than 3 right in a couple of episodes...
That 5 correct answer rule in your "How would you produce it?" totally works with this game. this was a well done review.
I wish you can review: Get The Picture gameshow next time or maybe Mad Libs
I think I’m gonna review Debt next. I’ve been putting that one off for awhile
Click is a great show, but very underrated.
Agreed. It could have lasted into the 2000s, although by then, Ryan had moved on to American Idol.
Temptation: The New Sale of the Century used a version the opening round of Wipeout. But they called it the Knockout round. Maybe something like Knockout could be the name of the show.
I really like the classic game. Only change I would have made was in the final round, the player picks the category, but it’s all toss-ups. Bonus round was nearly perfect. All of the interactive games were horrible especially the studio version of it. The contestants never said a word during those interactive games.
I sincerely hope they recorded BOTH versions in 4-K Super High definition Blu-ray.
Happy 50th birthday to ''THE TOWERING INFERNO''.
Lots of heavy weight actors in this film including oj
The movie was filming on July 1974 and it was ready for Dec. release the same year. Three units were filming simultaneously. That would be unheard of today.
Beat the Spoilers is like final jeopardy except the spoilers do not make wagers and they do not lose money for wrong answers.
The Towering Inferno premiered on NBC in 1980.
This is too perfect! Hopefully this is the format The CW goes with later this year. I'd actually like to see The CW go with a special episode of Trivial Pursuit with NASCAR drivers as contestants at some point considering they'll have Xfinity Series rights starting next year. By the way, I've been wondering how you make these...
You should do persona wheel of fortune
A sequel series to the original 1993 Trivial Pursuit game show has been ordered by The CW for the 2024-25 season with LeVar Burton of Reading Rainbow hosting the program. This is a sequel series and not a proper revival because it will use an entirely different format.
How different is the question. I know The CW is planning a reboot of Scrabble as well. But if it’s not the 80s version that everyone remembers, it will bomb.
Incredible video! Keep going!
I think it was very creative and nice. Using a crossover between anime and game shows.
The Host is WINK MARTINDALE!
Not anymore. It's gonna be LeVar Burton soon.
@@NerdNest83 Ignore him. He refuses to accept any host other than one of the originals.
@@GamingDelight I’ll ignore him. Don’t get me wrong. Wink Martindale was awesome. I even praised him in my recent video review of Trivial Pursuit. But, LeVar Burton is going to be hosting the upcoming revival. This is just how I’d like to see it done. But, it’ll be 10 minutes shorter.
I'll be back .🎥🎥

I know he did. 1988, to be exact.

From 1979 to 1982, Fleming also did "College Bowl" for CBS Radio, while also doing the finals in syndication on TV in 1978 and 1979.
Nothing like an old classic!
Bonus points to the 70s version for the catchy countdown music during the player/celebrity conference.
My DEEPEST sympathy to you about the loss of your Mother.
Jay had a thing for cartoons, as most of his shows had animated intros
I remember back when Drew Carey was still married he actually had his wife model for an episode but I think since that episode they got divorced so they could bring bump back and it’s original format but I would think if they did bring it back, they would tone down on the sexual aspect of the game
When Norma Brown won her $28,800,I went crazy screaming my head off,I was so happy for her.
There was a playing of BUMP where Ray Combs promoted the reboot of Family Feud on CBS starting on July 4th, 1988.
Jack Clark was a great host here! David Sparks..not so much.WNEW 5 NYC aired this
Moving Match Game to 4pm was a huge mistake!
In the very first season the winning contestant could choose any celebrity. We saw earlier episodes during the rather-brief run on WEWS.

The assistant producer on the game show Double Dare was none other than Markie Post, who also played Christine Sullivan on the TV sitcom Night Court. She was also a guest star on game shows such as The Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour and Super Password.
Rangers Forever!
The fact that the 1988 game show Wipeout suffered from poor ratings and also had virtually a bad airtime on syndicated TV shows how small thinking a lot of TV executives were back then.
